Architecture

Interior architectural design of approximately 25,000 m2 in a Built-to-Suit office designed by KMD, located in Queretaro, Mexico.

The idea of this project is to integrate the interior with the exterior, to a greater and lesser scale of detail, while utilizing the penetration of light from the main atrium as the focal point. The goal is to convey an image of high technology for an international company with a presence throughout all of Latin America. To create this feeling, we worked on designing textures inspired from textiles common to diverse regions of Latin America and the use of colored light from the atrium and hallways. Some of the details with the greatest impact are the design of the desk in the reception area, stairs, accessories for computers, telephones, graphics and flat screens located in the atrium and hallways. All the accessories were custom designed to complement the aluminum mullions and stainless steel.

The interior space planning is highlighted by its austere environment and flexibility, allowing all the offices and workstations to be reconfigured quickly. This was achieved by designing the furniture in conjunction with the manufacturer and utilizing custom-designed mullions to accommodate the building’s particularities in predetermined zones; and by utilizing specially designed textures and transparencies with characteristics in line with the rest of the design.

Among the most significant of the project’s challenges was to provide a pleasant space even though each floor consisted of a 5,000m2 open area.

The design of the carpets was also of particular importance as were the lighting and work support points.
