Architecture

Interior architectural design of approximately 800 m2, in the Bosque de Santa Fe building, Mexico City.

The goal of the project was to open and amplify a space that had previously been designed in a postmodernist style consisting of isolated areas and access ways. Maintaining the existing shafts and working within the installation’s limitations, we undertook the task of changing the space diametrically to fully open areas and yet, subdividing them with the use of distinct architectural elements. Some elements that play with space’s ambiguity are the ceilings, onyx partitions, and low walls. The change from marble to wood floors forms part of the interpretation or perception of space and establishes points of hierarchy and circulation.

Among the most interesting characteristics are the onyx partitions and art focal points created in conjunction with the young, well known Mexican painter, Sandra Pani. Her commissioned works function as the focal points of the spaces while the architecture serves to both frame and enhance them. Additionally, light and view are of great importance in the design. Upon entering the space, it reveals itself through the use of vertical and horizontal planes and other architectural elements that intertwine and open up to the living room and other areas.

In addition to the 700 m2 apartment, we also designed a 100 m2 studio/spa along with the same design criteria.
